GOLD Baby!

The conditions were tough as the sleet and snow came down on the halfpipe, but David Wise proved to be the best of the best at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi Russia. Wise overcame the conditions and scored a 92 on his first run to bring home the gold to his family and...

3-Peat

Wise wins Ski SuperPipe for Aspen 3-Peat. David won his third consecutive gold medal in the men’s Ski SuperPipe final at X-Games Aspen 2014, the first 3-peat in men’s Ski SuperPipe since Tanner Hall’s streak from 2006 to 2008. Wise led after the first of three runs, taking the top spot with a score of 90, thanks to huge amplitude and big spins like a switch rightside 900 and switch double cork rightside 1260. Check out the run. Wise, the 2013 FIS World Cup champion, will be the favorite heading into the Sochi...

Making a difference

In 2013 David Wise created WeSayWater, a charity designed to provide clean water wells for those in need. David Wise is not only a talented athlete, but a genuine good guy. At the young age of 22, David organized WeSayWater to try and put his success to better use. “It is my goal to not only provide clean drinking water, but also to provide education about health and sanitation relating to clean water.” The idea for WeSayWater started from a tradition in action sports called the 10% Rule. The basis of the rule is that when you win...

X Games Tignes

To say that I have had a good year on the competition circuit would be an understatement, especially if you consider that I had my left ACL reconstructed last May.  My goals this year were simple: do runs through the halfpipe that have never been done before, and enjoy the opportunity to be a part of such a cool sport.  I am proud of all the medals that I’ve earned, but I am most proud of what my sport is becoming.  The level of pipe competition this year has never been seen before, and the unique combinations of personalities and...

2013 FIS Superpipe World Champion

Meet the new 2013 FIS Superpipe World Champion David Wise. Fans at the 2013 Voss/Oslo FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships were treated to an event that certainly had to be one of the most progressive contests of the season, with a level of technical proficiency, amplitude, style on display that at times neared the sublime as David Wise hosted a clinic on the state of today’s halfpipe skiing. David stomped an almost perfect run to solidify the gold with an incredible right-side double-corked 1260 mute to left-side double-corked 1260...

Twice As Nice!

David Wise defends title, wins 2013 X Games Aspen superpipe gold. After placing first in superpipe qualifier, David successfully defended his X Games crown, stomping two clean runs to take home the GOLD for the second consecutive year. David’s second (and winning) run consisted of a rightside 7 reverse mute, to switch double cork 10, into back-to-back double cork 1260s(!), and a massive alley-oop flat 5 tail to close. David maintained solid amplitude from top to bottom, and grabbed long and hard throughout each trick (just as he...

Time to think

Posted by on Jan 21, 2013 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

My wife always tells me that if I would just tell her all the complex things that I am thinking, she would no longer have trouble understanding the things that I do.  She will never pass up an opportunity for a road trip with me because, according to her, that’s the only time I REALLY talk to her.  Something happens after a long stretch of lonely road, the walls come down, and suddenly I have no problem sharing thoughts from the deepest recesses of my mind.  I guess it would be nicer for the people I am close to if I was just a little bit...
